Juneteenth is upon us! Juneteenth celebrates the enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas on 19 June 1865. It became an official Texas state holiday in 1979, and it is an official observance in numerous other states across the nation. Sun Fest is a 1 day event featuring local and regional entertainers, bar sourced from Black Spirits exclusively, local vendors, food trucks, and a skate park. Brought to you by the joint efforts of the Vibe Fest team, De La Roll mobile skate events, DESSO Foundation, and K1 Events. The goal of Sun Fest is to highlight the day of freedom for African Americans and to design a celebration that generates positive memories. In the past most Juneteenth celebrations highlight the end of slavery, and Sun Fest will highlight the excellence and beauty of Blackness. This event is free and open to all ages!
