Ride with us on a 90 minute guided bus tour to visit various African American historic sites in Alexandria!! You will hear stories for both enslaved and free African Americans prior to the civil as well, as understand the stories behind some of Alexandria's most known African American historic sites! Sites will include: the Alexandria National Cemetery, Alfred Street Baptist Church, Shiloh Baptist Church, Churh Alley, the African American Heritage Park, the Freedman's and Contraband Cemetery, Barrett Library, the Moses Hepburn Homes, the Parker-Gray School Site, the site of the 1939 Sit-In and a host of other historic sites. (You will ride in a HEATED tour bus-- in case you were wondering!) This is a must-do tour for anyone what wants to understand how much African American history exists in Old Town Alexandria!!!
